Exxact Robotics: Technical developments for an autonomous straddle tractor
Project abstract
Exxact Robotics creates cutting-edge solutions for precision agriculture, integrating perception technologies, AI, and robotic systems.
The project’s goal was to develop a new generation of autonomous straddle tractors powered by hydrogen fuel cells.
Technical developments
- Integrated an electric drive system
- Developed a new chassis to align with the diesel version and optimize component integration
- Redesigned the steering system for enhanced precision
- Developed key modular components (“techno bricks”) including energy, cooling, and hydraulic packs
- Created a patented modular architecture for flexibility and scalability
- Designed the steel frame, hydraulics, hoods, and subframe for ground tools and systems
- Engineered the patented sprayer module for precision agriculture applications
- Designed and patented the bumpers for improved safety and functionality
- Integrated a turbo diesel engine for enhanced power
- Implemented a hydrostatic four-wheel transmission system
Key achievements
Spraying:
- Integrated SUPRAY confined spray panels
- Designed one fixed and one removable sub-assembly for flexibility
Soil Cultivation:
- Ensured compatibility with standard hydraulic systems
- Developed a removable subframe with hydraulic push-pull functionality
Quality Work
“By working on the mechanical design of the Traxx lineup, we explored new architectural strategies for high complexity systems, resulting in an end product that is both exceptionally compact and robust.”
